Hi, my name is Aalyiah Doctor, a North Carolina native and creative currently pursuing a master’s degree in Library Information Science at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with the goal of becoming an archivist and documentarian. Beyond my studies, I’ve worked as a video editor for the past 7 years. I specialize in documentary, music video, and podcast editing. In the past, I’ve collaborated with various creatives, including YouTube channel “ModernGurlz,” for whom I’ve edited video essays for the past 4 years, with notable videos such as “The Best Dress in Film Series”, which have surpassed 2 million views. From 2023-2025, I creative-directed and edited for the podcast "Purse First," hosted by New York Times bestselling author Sesali Bowen and Emmy Award winner Prince Pierre. A lot of my work amplifies the voices of marginalized communities and discusses them through a pop culture lens, with tons of motion graphics and transitions. In addition to my editing work, I am the founder and owner of Cyber Nostalgia Studios, a multimedia platform designed to celebrate not just my childhood but also the pasts of many others. The studio gives me the outlet to produce zines, documentaries, and other creative work that evoke nostalgia and rekindle cherished memories across various media.
